Lady Superstar Nayanthara was in a controversy with Dhanush when her documentary was released on Netflix. Dhanush had objected to a 4-second BTS clip used in the trailer and sent a legal notice to the actress. Later, Nayanthara publicly penned an open letter to Dhanush, lashing at him for not allowing the permission. Many people called it a publicity stunt. Nayanthara reacted to this controversy recently.
Speaking an interview recently, Nayanthara said, “The controversy happened because I spoke out and wanted to speak in public. I genuinely tried to reach out to him so that I could have a direct answer on the issue. There were several calls Vignesh (Shivan) had with his manager through our friends who are friends with him. But none of that worked. We came to a point where we did not want to use the clips, and we were okay if he did not want to give an NOC because it is his film.”
She added, “But, we wanted to use the four lines that Vignesh Shivan wrote in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan that summarised our relationship. I am not someone who usually calls someone for obligations. But I thought the lines were very important for the documentary. I genuinely thought he would be the first person to say okay, too. But that also did not happen.”
“I spoke to the manager (Which I usually don’t) and said we are okay with not having NOC. But we wanted just to use those four lines, which you don’t want us to use as well. But just get me a phone call with him to understand the issue if he is angry with us,” Nayanthara said.
Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, produced by Dhanush, did not do well at the box office, but the movie received a lot of love from the audiences. During the making of the film, Nayanthara fell in love with Vignesh.
