Baby’s Failure Alerts Pawan’s Ustaad

In the current scenario, remakes are often turning out to be huge disappointments at the box office, and we are witnessing this firsthand. After the Hindi remake Baby John failed miserably, all eyes are now on Ustaad Bhagat Singh.

Pawan Kalyan doing remakes is not a new thing; all his films after Agnyaathavaasi have been remakes from other languages. But there’s an important point to consider here.

The original of Vakeel Saab was Pink, starring Amitabh Bachchan, and that didn’t pose much of an image clash for Pawan Kalyan. Similarly, Bheemla Nayak was based on the Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which had two lead roles, but neither actor was a top-tier star, and not many in Telugu had watched the original.

In the case of Bro (the Tamil version Vinodayathesis), Pawan Kalyan’s role was similar to the character played by Thambi Ramaiah, and only a few people had seen it on OTT. These films worked primarily because of Pawan Kalyan’s image and his massive fan following. But Ustaad Bhagat Singh is different.

We’ve already seen Vijay play the role in the original Teri, which is still available in Telugu dubbing on Amazon Prime and has been aired multiple times on Star MAA. So, there won’t be much excitement regarding the story itself. However, fans are hopeful that director Harish Shankar might make some key changes to the storyline, just like he did with Gabbar Singh.

Harish Shankar, however, has had some recent setbacks. His attempt to remake RAID in Telugu didn’t work out, so he has to be extra cautious with Ustaad Bhagat Singh. If he sticks to a direct remake, the film could face problems. Even though it’s a Pawan Kalyan film, it won’t be enough to blindly draw crowds to the theatres. Moreover, Ustaad Bhagat Singh currently ranks last in terms of buzz among Pawan’s fans, after OG and Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

There is still time before the release, so Harish Shankar has the opportunity to make multiple adjustments. This film could either turn out to be a major flop or a fantastic comeback for him, depending on how it’s handled. If done right, it could be a big success.
