Unexpected Success of the Mass Malayalam Film

Published by

The success of Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to create waves in Bollywood, even after weeks of its release. It is still drawing large crowds, with several centers experiencing full house bookings during weekends. It’s surprising to see such an impact from a dubbed movie, even weeks after its release, which is something even KGF couldn’t achieve. Only Baahubali 2 had managed such feats, and now Pushpa 2 is achieving similar success. But that’s not the end of the story.

The Malayalam dubbed movie Marco is doing exceptionally well in the North. Even though it didn’t make a huge noise on its Friday release, the positive word of mouth spread quickly, leading to increased shows. In Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi, well-known multiplexes and single screens reduced Baby John shows and allocated those to Marco and Pushpa 2.

Marco stands out due to its intense violence, which may make family audiences hesitant, but its heroism, background score, and mass appeal are winning hearts. Despite being a revenge drama, its treatment is highly impressive.

The movie is set for a grand release in Telugu on January 1. Unni Mukundan, who was previously known for medium-range roles, is now becoming a top player thanks to Marco. No one expected such a violent film from Malayalam cinema, which is usually known for content-driven movies. Director Aneef A. D. has made a name for himself with this project, showing that a film can be successful without commercial elements or duets.

With no significant releases in Telugu until January 10, Marco is expected to receive a warm welcome in Tollywood as well.
