Why They Are Targeting Game Changer & Daaku Maharaaj?

Published by

The growing dominance of South Indian films in the pan-India market has undeniably created ripples in Bollywood. Although the Bollywood biggies initially hoped that the dominance of South films would never impact their existence, the current scenario reflects the opposite. Moreover, the comments made by producer Naga Vamshi rubbed the ego of all the Bollywood filmmakers. As a result, few media houses in Bollywood is cornering the films Game Changer and Daaku Maharaaj with an agenda.

The alleged targeting of the upcoming film Game Changer seems to be a reflection of this underlying tension. Directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan, the film has generated considerable buzz already. With Ram Charan riding high with the success with RRR, things looked bright in the beginning. But in the last few days, a lot of negative articles have been posted against the film.

The Hindi media, critics and some filmmakers openly carry negative propaganda against the film. They claim that the Game Changer trailer lacks appeal, generating less buzz in North India.

While such critiques could stem from genuine industry analysis, the timing and tone of these comments hint at a deeper unease. Following the unprecedented success of Pushpa-2, which broke records and maintained strong momentum for weeks, Bollywood might feel the need to regain its footing in the pan-India market.

On the other hand, Daaku Maharaaj is also being criticized brutally. Initially, the team planned a theatrical release for the film’s Hindi version but it is not happening. The makers will release the Hindi version directly on the OTT. Despite that, several hindi social media influencers started cornering the film even before its release. The criticism of Dabbidi Dibbidi’s song added more fuel to their selected criticism. Calling Balakrishna as old man, they are posting unbiased reports about the movie.

The success of Baahubali, Pushpa, KGF, and RRR set new benchmarks for the Indian cinema. The Bollywood biggies are struggling to gain global appeal for their films while the South filmmakers are achieving it easily.

However, the resilience of South Indian cinema has often been rooted in its storytelling, strong performances, and a loyal fanbase that transcends regional boundaries. If the film delivers on its promises, it could overcome any negativity and emerge victorious.
