Mixed Reactions To Shankar’s Dissatisfaction

Published by

The yesteryear movies from Shankar are still the best in the genre. The man lost his glory after he made movies with the same grandeur but stale narrative and content. Indian 2 ended as a big embarrassment to the director’s filmography and the recently released Game Changer proved to be a better one but not the best from Shankar.

In a recent interview, Shankar stated that he was not completely satisfied with the film’s output. Further saying that he should have done better, Shankar reveals that the total duration exceeded five hours, and had to cut down a few things to craft a perfect sculpture.

Well, Shankar’s statement received mixed reactions all over. After putting in so much time and money for a movie that had five hours of footage, Shankar is being criticized for wasting money and resources and yet delivering an ordinary movie.

As a part of editing the film to a decent run time, many key scenes are removed, as per Shankar. Many contradict Shankar’s words, saying that he should have removed the unwanted scenes from the movie rather than removing the so-called key scenes. It is heard that a shot made with crores of money could not find a place in the final cut.

While a section of people are calling it irresponsible filmmaking, others are bringing up the comparison with other star filmmakers who also have similar hours of footage before trimming it to the release copy.

However, Ram Charan released a ‘thank you’ note to Shankar before moving on to his next with Buchi Babu Sana. Some fans of Shankar are seen asking to release the uncut version of Game Changer and it has to be seen if Shankar thinks of it.
