The Telugu remake of Malayalam star Mohanlal’s super hit political drama ‘Lucifer’ has been in the news since last year. Megastar Chiranjeevi will reprise Mohanlal’s character and his son Ram Charan had acquired the rights to remake the movie.
In the beginning, Chiru had entrusted Saaho director Sujeeth with the job of directing Lucifer’s remake. However, Sujeeth had to walk to after he could not convince Chiru with the changes he had made while adapting the script to suit Telugu sensibilities.
It was then that Chiru had roped in his trusted lieutenant VV Vinayak to direct Lucifer remake. Vinayak had even begun working on the film’s script along with writer Akula Siva. But the latest buzz in Film Nagar circles reveals that Vinayak too has walked out of the project due to creative differences.
While not much is known about the story behind Vinayak’s exit, this latest development will surely delay the project further. In the past, Vinayak had given two memorable blockbusters to Chiru in the form of Tagore and Khaidi No 150. Their hat-trick film would have been a hotcake in trade circles.
Meanwhile, Chiru will resume Acharya’s shoot from November 9th. He is expected to kickstart Vedalam remake post Sankranthi.
