Chhava In Top 10, Sets Another Record!

Even though it’s been over a month since the release of Chhava, its run shows no signs of slowing down. While its pace slowed during the weekdays, come the weekend, Vicky Kaushal’s film is back on track, raking in numbers. The timing of Chhava’s success is particularly notable, as no major Bollywood movie has released recently to compete with its box office performance. Although John Abraham’s The Diplomat received positive reviews, it hasn’t been able to convert that buzz into box office numbers.

Despite releasing later, the Telugu version of Chhava crossing ₹15 crore is no small feat. Had the court’s appeal been more aggressive, the Marathi version could have targeted ₹20 crore, but there have been a few signs indicating it might fall short.

Recently, Chhava achieved another milestone. It has now secured the 8th position among the biggest Indian blockbusters in terms of net collections. With ₹555 crore, it has surpassed films like Animal (₹553 crore) and Jawan (₹543 crore). Given that its final run is still ongoing, experts predict it could add another ₹100 crore to its total. Looking at its gross earnings, Chhava stands strong with ₹741 crore. It has also grossed ₹86 crore overseas, adding another record to its name. By entering the top 10, Chhava has earned Vicky Kaushal a place among the biggest stars, challenging the dominance of the Khans and the Kapoors.

The next big target for Chhava is the ₹1,000 crore mark in gross earnings. While it’s not impossible, it certainly won’t be easy. To continue its momentum after the gradual slowdown, the film will need to attract audiences back to theaters. There have been reports suggesting that producers are considering offering attractive deals, such as “one plus one” offers or multiplex tickets priced at ₹100, to encourage people to visit theaters. If producers implement such strategies, Chhava could have a chance at revitalizing its earnings. Additionally, Netflix, which has acquired the streaming rights, is expected to release Chhava in the second week of April.
