AR Rahman is not only a versatile music composer but also a true revolutionary in Indian cinema. He earned a legendary status by competing with the stalwarts like Ilaiyaraaja. However, Rahman’s career after 2015 witnessed a poor success rate. In the last decade, there are only handful hits in his career, despite being active in multiple languages. However now, after many years, he is returning to Telugu cinema with Ram Charan’s Peddi. The score for Peddi First Shot surprisingly attracted everyone.
In general, Rahman’s fans haven’t been fully satisfied with his recent works. Most of the fans feel that neither the audio album nor the background score carries the vintage magic with which Rahman earned the recognition and fan base. Many Telugu fans also expected the same when they came to know about Rahman’s inclusion to Peddi.
But surprisingly, ARR’s background score turned out to be one of the major highlights of Peddi’s first shot. Rahman do not have a great track record for his straight works in Telugu cinema. Except for Ye Maya Chesave, he does not have a blockbuster audio album to his name in Telugu. The filmmakers also avoid him for the fact that he could not deliver big in Telugu. Although they are ready to pay a big remuneration, they are unsure if Rahman can deliver a big hit.
But, Buchi Babu Sana did something unthinkable. The buzz says that Buchi was very keen on having Rahman on board from the beginning. Although his debut Uppena had Devi Sri Prasad’s successful album, the young director wanted to go with Rahman for Peddi. This is also the first time that Rahman and Ram Charan are working together. Until the first shot was released, no one have any expectations on the film’s audio album or the BGM. People were thinking Buchi Babu could have easily roped in DSP again or gone with someone else. After watching the first shot of Peddi, it plants a thought that a film like Peddi might demand AR Rahman’s work and Buchi is clever enough to get the work done.
In reality, Rahman seems to have delivered what Buchi Babu has envisioned. Rahman is also quite pumped about working on this ambitious film, a sports drama blended with human emotions. Interestingly, Rahman will be clashing with Rockstar Anirudh during the film’s release. If Anirudh’s The Paradise (Nani-Srikanth Odela) is also hitting the screens in the last week of Marchi, then it will clash with Peddi. There will be definite comparisons between the two audio albums.
So far, Anirudh impressed with the music he scored to the glimpse of The Paradise. Simultaneously, Rahman also succeeded in scoring an amazing background music for Peddi first shot. If both films arrive at the same time, we have to see if both get equal success or one beat the other.
