Sudha Kongara is currently the most discussed filmmaker in the southern film industry. To the uninitiated, with Soorarai Pottru (Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra in Telugu), Sudha has delivered the biggest movie hit so far in Indian OTT scene.
Starring Suriya, this inspirational semi-biopic released a few days before Diwali and went on to win the hearts of many. The way Sudha handled sensitive emotions realistically and even portrayed the lead actor’s heroism without a drop of blood is winning her accolades from all over the world. And thanks to Sudha, Suriya has finally delivered a clean hit after several years.
Not many are aware of the fact that Sudha is a Telugu woman with roots in Guntur and Vizag. After assisting Mani Ratnam for several years, she made her directorial debut in Tollywood with a comedy film ‘Andhra Andagadu’ with comedians Krishna Bhagwan and Suman Shetty. Released in 2008, the film sank without a trace. She later debuted in Kollywood in 2010 with the critically acclaimed thriller ‘Drohi’.
And after a long gap of 6 years, Sudha attracted the entire nation’s attention such Madhavan and Ritika Singh’s boxing drama ‘Saala Khadoos’. She remade the film in Telugu as ‘Guru’ with Venkatesh and Ritika Singh.
With Soorarai Pottru’s unanimous success, Sudha Kongara is now one of the most sought-after directors in Kollywood and several star heroes are willing to team up with her. Already, she is said to have zeroed in on her next project with star hero Thala Ajith.
Even yet another star hero Thalapathy Vijay and the acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi are reportedly in talks with Sudha. Needless to say, this talented Telugu lady’s road to success in the Tamil filmdom is an inspiration to aspiring filmmakers.
