Producers Council has requested the Government to include Film Industry in the category of front-line workers for the COVID Vaccination and permit them for the continuation of shootings.
In the statement, they wrote that the Film Industry is one of the biggest industries in India which consists of 20 Crafts of different Departments and also a popular industry that provides entertainment to common people. They have reminded that the Government of India and State Governments have been receiving good revenue from the Film Industry.
“For the production of films, several workers are engaged including that of Artists, Directors, Cameramen, etc by the Producers. Film shootings take place at different locations with different artists, technicians, etc, thereby they are prone to get Covid-19. It is pertinent to mention here that despite strict compliance of Covic1.19 precautions, some artists and technicians were affected and tested Covid positive recently As a result, the shootings of the films were shelved which has put the Producers to severe financial losses,” wrote the Producers Council in the statement.
They have requested the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh K Chandrasekhar Rao and Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Ministers of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as well as the respective Secretaries of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and both Telugu States to include Film Industry in the category of Front line Workers for Covid vaccination.
