Controversy Hits Saif’s Tandav, #BanTandavNow Trends

Saif Ali Khan-starrer Tandav web series has engulfed in a controversy. It is alleged that some portions in this web series are hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu community and allegedly portraying Hindu Gods in poor light. Many are voicing out their opinion on social media that some scenes are “objectionable” and “demeaning”.

Some politicians in North have also expressed their dissent over the scenes in Tandav as they are allegedly mocking Hindu Gods. It is alleged that devotees of Lord Rama and Lord Shiva are hurt with scenes in Tandav.

A section of people are alleging that Hindu community has become a soft target for filmmakers who are trying to create controversy around it and cashing in on the craze with the help of controversy.

As the web series released on Prime garnered poor to mixed reviews, the controversy surrounding the series is drawing attention.Amidst this, the argument is growing strong that filmmakers are “intentionally” resorting to such controversial scenes to garner the publicity. Many fingers are pointed out at its director Ali Abbas Zaffar who earlier directed Sultan with Salman Khan.

Meanwhile, the clamour for banning Tandav web series is growing. #BanTandavNow has trended online widely the other day. Given the poor reviews for this political drama, many are throwing satire on Tandav that one need not ban this series as people have already ignored it considering the bad reviews. However, it is the controversy surrounding the series that is bringing unwanted attention to it.
