The Man Behind Jathi Ratnalu

Published by

Nag Ashwin who delivered back to back hits with his first two films is venturing into production with Jathi Ratnalu featuring Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna. Anudeep KV has directed the film. Meanwhile, ahead of the film’s release, Nag Ashwin made interesting revelations about Jathi Ratnalu and his next project with Prabhas.

How did the film happen?
Actually, Anudeep didn’t approach. I loved his short film and went to him with the proposal of making a full length comedy entertainer in the lines of Jandhyala and SV Krishna Reddy’s films. Since I traveled from the very beginning of script writing, I gave few suggestions to him.

Whose choice was roping in Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna for the film?
Naveen and Vijay are good friends of mine since Life Is Beautiful. I initially planned to make my first film Yevadu Subrahmanyam with Vijay and Nveen. But, it didn’t materialize. When Anudeep told me the story, I thought Naveen would be the right choice. Since Priyadarshi and Rahul too liked the story, they came on board to play the other two lead roles.

What’s the storyline of Jathi Ratnalu?
It’s a two and half an hour nonstop comedy entertainer. Coming to story, it’s about how three mindless guys are trapped in a serious crime. Like Money Money and Anaganaga, it’s an out and out hilarious entertainer.

Tell us about director Anudeep?
Firstly, I loved his pure innocence. One needs to have a good heat to make a comedy film. Anudeep has a good heart and that’s why the film came out well.

Will you continue producing films?
I don’t have any intentions to continue as a producer. But, I will encourage good and content rich films through Swapna Cinema.

Finally, speaking about Prabhas’ film, Nag Ashwin said it will be a different film with a unique concept. “It will take some time to create a new world for the film. We are planning to start the shoot from July.”
