No doubt, the ‘theatre business’ is going to be something different than before. After the lockdown, the footfalls will be quite low owing to the fears of the people and even the government may not allow them to function like earlier. With Covid-19 enforced lockdown on one side and OTT platforms grabbing content on other side, what should theatres do to attract more people in the near future?
Director Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame, who is going to director #Prabhas21 has revealed that he has a similar conversation with producer Suresh Babu. As Suresh owns nearly 500 theatres, most of them under the lease, he’s said to be little worried about the future of theatres. They thought that introducing alcohol at theatres will be a key to attract more audiences and Nag Ashwin is expecting people’s opinion on this.
No doubt, most of them said no, because serving alcohol at theatres will put an end to the family audiences coming to theatres. At the same time those who have over drunk might not be able to leave theatres on time and unwanted ruckus is bound to happen like at those bars in Krishna Nagar and Ameerpet.
Some felt that reducing the price of popcorn and allowing people to bring their own water bottles, food and cold beverages might help very well. Maybe Suresh Babu should think about this or Nag Ashwin should give him this advice.
