Supremely talented actors of the country, Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush will share the Best Actor Award for the 67th National Film Awards that were announced just about a while ago. While Dhanush won it for Asuran, Manoj got the award for Bhonsle. Kangana Ranaut has walked away with the Best Actress Award for her stint in both ‘Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Panga’. Kangana essayed the role of Queen Jhansi in historical epic ‘Manikarnika’ and she played the role of Kabaddi player in ‘Panga’. It is a double win for Kangana. This will be Kangana’s 4th National Award.
Dhanush portrayed the role of a middle-aged farmer in Asuran. He delivered an extraordinary performance in the movie by portraying two completely contrasting shades in a single character. This is his second National Award, after winning the Best Actor Award for Aadukalam in 2011. Asuran also won the Best Regional Film (Tamil) Award. Coincidentally, both Aadukalam and Asuran were directed by Vetrimaaran.
On the flip side, Manoj Bajpayee won the Best Actor Award for the film Bhonsle. Directed by Devashish Makhija, the film featured Manoj in the role of a retired constable. The film had a direct digital release last year. This is Manoj’s third National Award and the first in the Best Actor category. Earlier, he won the Best Supporting Actor Award for Satya in 2000 and Special Jury Award for Pinjar in 2005.
