Shankar is one of the successful filmmakers in the country. With big-budgeted flicks and social issues in his movies, the director created a special place for himself in the world of commercial cinema. The director recently announced two films, one with Ram Charan in Telugu and another one with Ranveer Singh in Hindi. The film featuring Ranveer Singh is said to be the adaption of his successful Tamil film Anniyan aka Aparichithudu. As soon as the news broke out, producer Ascar Ravichandran who originally produced Anniyan sent an open letter to director Shankar, followed by a legal notice that he is trying to copy the main plot without his permission.
In his open letter, producer Ravichandran wrote, “I am utterly shocked to know that you are likely to undertake the direction of a Hindi film by adopting the story of the movie Anniyan. You are well aware that I am the producer of the movie. The entire story right was purchased by me from writer Sujatha for which full payment was done. I am the whole and sole owner of the rights. Any adaptation or remaking or copying the main plot is totally illegal.”
Sharing the news about the new project, Shankar wrote, “In this moment, no one will be happier than me, bringing back the larger than life cinematic experience with @RanveerOfficial in the official adaptation of cult blockbuster Anniyan.”
We have to see what Shankar will have to say about this sudden hit back. A few days ago, when Shankar announced his new film with Ram Charan, Lyca Productions sent a legal notice to Shankar for starting a new film without completing their project.
