Director Shankar had a big shock from the Aascar Ravichandran regarding the Anniyan remake with Ranveer Singh. Shankar announced a remake of Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh. The producer sent an open letter to director Shankar alleging the latter is trying to copy the main plot without his permission. Aascar Ravichandran said the entire story right was purchased by him from the writer Sujatha and he would be the sole owner of the rights now.
Shankar responded to the allegations and wrote an open letter back to Aascar Ravichandran. In his letter, Shankar denied later writer Sujatha having anything to do with Anniyan’s story and script, as he involved the writer only for the dialogues. Shankar also emphasized that it was his name in the title tag that reads, ‘Story, Screenplay, and Direction by Shankar’. The director says the script and storyline belong exclusively to himself and his rights cannot be interfered with under any circumstances.
The Robo director also denies the producer’s entity to have right to remake Anniyan as the said rights have not been granted to him in writing. Shankar asked the Aascar film’s producer to stop agitating such baseless claims and illegal claims to attempt to jeopardize his future projects.
Shankar’s clarification through the open letter clarifies many things. While it has to be seen how the Ravichandran reacts to the same, the Anniyan remake might be on hold for a time. It looks like the blockbuster from 2005 is hitting the news not just for its remake attempt but for the ‘rights’ tangle between the producer and the director.
Shankar recently has signed in for the 15th movie of Ram Charan.
