Covid19: B-town Celebs Doing Their Bit To Help Needy

Published by

India recorded 3.79 lakh fresh cases and 3,596 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the highest in a single day. As the alarming and disturbing number of daily Covid-19 cases and deaths in the country continued to rise, a few B-town celebrities have finally come forward to help the people in crisis.

Amidst huge fear and concern, Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna helped the chronic oxygen shortage by arranging 100 oxygen concentrators. Also, the couple could manage to get 120 more through a foundation named Daivik Foundation and donated a total of 220 concentrators. A few days ago, Akshay also donated Rs 1 Crore to Gautam Gambhir’s foundation to help the needy. The actor had contracted the deadly virus three weeks ago and has now been completely recovered.

Soon after Akshay, Suneil Shetty urged his followers on social media to leave him a personal message in case of any emergency. “DM me if you need help, if you know someone who needs help, or if you want to contribute and be a part of this mission. Please amplify this as much as you can and help us help them,” wrote Suniel Shetty. We also have Sonu Sood and Salman Khan helping the countrymen in need.

Yesterday, Ajay Devgn has set up a 20 bed ICU for COVID 19 patients. He gave Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) a whopping Rs 1 crore to help set up a 20 bed ICU for COVID-19 patients. This hospital has been made at the Shivaji Park area in Mumbai.

Later, actor and member of Parliament, Kirron Kher allocated funds for the purchase of ventilators for COVID 19 patients in PGI Chandigarh. Kirron herself is suffering from cancer and amid her vigorous treatment for the disease, the actor expressed her concern and is helping people wholeheartedly. She informed everyone about her allocation of Rs 1 Crore from MPLADS to PGI Chandigarh.

We also have the global icon, Priyanka Chopra joining hands to fight the battle. Priyanka and her husband, Nick Jonas went ahead to boost health infrastructure in India via a non-profit organisation working on ground level. She said that she has set up a fundraiser for COVID relief with Give India to help the medical infrastructure. “Nick and I already have and will continue to contribute. We have all seen how far and wide this virus can spread, an ocean between us makes no difference. No one is safe unless everyone is safe. It’s so heartening to see so many people stepping up to help in so many ways. We need to beat this virus, and to do that requires ALL of us. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!,” wrote Priyanka.
