The versatile and naturally pretty, Sai Pallavi is celebrating her 29th birthday today. On the occasion, the makers of her upcoming film Shyam Singha Roy unveiled a new poster, giving us a glimpse of Pallavi’s character. Sai Pallavi looks majestic and she will essay the role of a Bengali woman. The poster also shows the actress looking like goddess Durga with a Trishul in her hand.

Sai Pallavi has a massive fan following, especially for her acting prowess and the way she carries off her natural look with confidence. Talking about her entry into films, the actress opened up about her interests and strengths in life. Sai Pallavi said that it all started when a film agency approached her during her school days ( 8th standard) after seeing her dance performance in some event.

The actress who has a fear of mathematics used to look for ways to skip classes and which is why she decided to take a plunge into movies. She first made a screen presence with Kangana Ranaut’s Tamil film Dhaam Dhoom. After doing a side character in the film, Pallavi also did a movie with Meera Jasmine, where she essayed the role of her classmate.

The actress also recalled her days during the Premam movie. “ I was worried if the audience will accept me as a lead actress in Premam. My pimples made me insecure and was constantly thinking about how I would look on screen. I also felt upset realising that how can people like her when I don’t like myself in the first place. But I took a risk and acted in the film anyhow.”

“I was also insecure about my voice for sounding too husky. I have never done eyebrows or never cut my hair. I don’t have sleek hair like other actresses. But the success of the film and the compliments I got after the release made me feel confident. After that, I got many offers. Many of my directors used to first advise me to wear makeup. But again, they ask me to remove the makeup saying that you look better without makeup. This is why I stay away from makeup and closer to the character”.

When asked about why she never accept advertisements or endorsing a product, Pallavi says she does not like to do commercials but instead do real charity work. I also did marketing for many charitable organisations without taking remuneration and many don’t know this.

Sai Pallavi currently has two upcoming Telugu films – Love Story and Virataparvam. In Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story, she plays a Telangana-based character. In Virataparvam, Sai Pallavi will be seen playing a character inspired by Belli Lalitha, a folk singer turned activist and she played a crucial role in the fight for statehood of the Telangana region in the early 1990s. She was kidnapped and killed in 1999.
