Akkineni Nagarjuna is always ahead of his time with the selection of scripts and the wide range of characters he played on the screen. The senior actor is also known for introducing a majority of newcomers to Telugu cinema. The senior Akkineni hero is now working on coming up with a museum for Telugu cinema in Hyderabad. The work on setting up the museum has already begun but Nagarjuna had to delay it because of the ongoing pandemic.
Speaking to English news daily, Nagarjuna Akkineni opened up on the plans about having a museum for the Telugu cinema. In 2019, Nagarjuna Akkineni hosted a workshop at Annapurna Studios for the preservation and restoration of films. Having intrigued with the things he learned in the workshop, he decided to gather all Telugu classics and build a museum for the Telugu cinema.
Elaborating on his plans, Nagarjuna Akkineni shared that he is constantly in touch with film archivists all over the country. Though the pandemic has delayed his plans, Nagarjuna did not stop collecting the items for the museum.
Nagarjuna Akkineni successfully retrieved some of the old classics that his father acted in. He is going to direct all of them to the Telugu cinema museum. Nagarjuna regrets not preserving some of the films made on their production house but he is in plans to use the technology to retrieve more films.
Setting up a museum is Nagarjuna’s idea of giving a perfect ode to Telugu cinema that gave him so much joy.
On the work front, Nagarjuna’s next film is in Praveen Sattaru’s direction. Apart from that, he also has Bangarraju in the offing. After 18 years, Nag will be returning to Bollywood with Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra.
