SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles is one of the prestigious projects being made currently in Telugu cinema. This film has been making headlines with its unbelievable pre-release business and digital cum satellite rights deal.
Recently the producers have closed the digital and satellite rights for a whopping Rs 325 crore. But it was not officially announced and here comes. “We are delighted to announce the official DIGITAL & SATELLITE partners for India’s Biggest Film #RRRMovie. Thanks to @ssrajamouli ji & @DVVMovies for choosing us to present @RRRMovie,” tweeted Pen Movies twitter handle.
As per this announcement the digital and satellite streaming has been split as per the language preference. Zee5 platform will stream ‘RRR’ in all the south Indian languages while Netflix holds the Hindi language streaming rights.
For international viewers, Netflix will also stream ‘RRR’ movie in English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish languages. Overall Pen has sold the satellite and digital rights of ‘RRR’ in 10 languages. This is a new feat.
Also the digital streaming of ‘RRR’ in Zee5 and Netflix will be available 70 to 100 days after the release of the movie.
Coming to the satellite (TV) streaming, Zee Cinemas for Hindi, Star MAA for Telugu, Star Tamil, Star Kannada and Asianet Malayalam for the respective languages.
On the whole, ‘RRR’ digital and satellite rights deal is said to be the biggest deal the industry has ever seen.
