For the past few months, there have been strong speculations that producer-distributor Dil Raju would venture into OTT space. It is learnt that these speculations do have a strong base and Raju is all set to launch his own OTT very soon. Raju’s OTT would be called ‘Dil’, said sources in the know.
Apparently, Raju has extensively worked on the OTT model for sometime now. He has assessed both the advantages and disadvantages and how to take the new OTT platform to the masses. It is not yet known whether it would be subscription based or a pay-per-view model. So, Raju’s upcoming movies will be streamed on his new OTT.
Raju’s new OTT, Dil, will take on Allu Aravind and Jupally Rameshwar Rao’s Aha. It is also going to compete with Amazon Prime and Netflix in terms of regional content. What is the total investment, what are the budgets for marketing and promotion and what are the returns expected are not known yet. On the whole, it is a welcome development as the competition in OTT brings out more content to viewers. Also, small filmmakers are likely to be benefited with these OTT platforms.
