Prabhas Radhe Shyam has got a lucrative deal from an OTT giant. According to highly-placed sources, Radhe Shyam has got a staggering Rs 400 Crore offer from Amazon Prime for an outright deal. This includes the total negative rights of the film. One of the producers of the film – T-Series- is said to have got the offer from Amazon and this deal is being discussed by the partners.
It is learnt that the Radhe Shyam’s budget and interests together have mounted to over Rs 330 Crore. A small portion of the film’s shoot is balance. It is expected to be wrapped up as soon as the shootings resume.
Even if the lockdown is relaxed in several states and 50 percent occupancy is allowed in theatres, the trade is still not sure about the footfalls and theatrical revenue. The scars of second-wave pandemic are considered to be deep and experts opine that people may take longtime to walk into cinemas.
In this background, delaying the release of such a high-budget film will only pile up the interests on the finance amounts. Unlike Saaho, Radhe Shyam is a love story. Since majority of Prabhas fans are mass and expects action stunts when they watch it in theatres, the breezy romance and class set-up aren’t as appealing as action scenes. This is also a catch for Radhe Shyam’s theatrical performance. All these factors only favour Amazon’s fancy offer.
The recent film which did reasonably well in Telugu was Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab. Even that film had under performed given the pandemic. It’s been longtime since a film made about Rs 400 Crore at the Box Office. Given that Salman Khan’s Radhe too released on Zee Plex directly without a theatrical release, the makers of Radhe Shyam are weighing out this option of Amazon. Considering all these factors, the makers of Radhe Shyam are contemplating the deal from Amazon. However, UV Creations is yet to give its nod for the deal. The talks are going on.
