Kamal Haasan and Meena are going to team up after 25 long years. Meena is likely to cast opposite Kamal in Papanasam 2, the much awaited sequel of Drushyam and remake of Malayalam Drishyam 2. While 2015’s Papanasam had Kamal Haasan and his then partner Gautami as the couple, the sequel will replace Gautami with Meena.
It can be noted that Gautami and Kamal were in a relationship during the making of Papanasam and that’s said to be the one of the main reasons for casting her for the role. The duo was in live-in relationship for about 13 long years. Later the duo parted ways. In November 2016, Gautami announced it in a blog post that she parted ways with Kamal and Kamal maintained his silence on the break-up.
Gautami had alleged that she had dues pending from Kamal’s production house Raajkamal Films International for which she rendered her services as the costume designer for the films produced. She had also said that she had her salary dues pending from previous films Dasavataram and Vishwaroopam. While the dues and issue might have been settled, the split is said to be the reason for replacing Gautami in Papanasam 2, say reports.
Since Gauatami is no longer with Kamal and they don’t have cordial relations, Kamal doesn’t want it to affect the professional work. That’s why Kamal decided to rope in Meena who is paired up with Venkatesh in both the parts of Drushyam in Telugu. As soon as Kamal approached, Meena is said to have given her nod.
Kamal and Meena were last seen in the 1996 film Avvai Shanmughi (Bhamane Satyabhamane in Telugu) which was a big success. However, the duo didn’t act together after that. After 25 years, they are going to share screen space for Drushyam 2.
