Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has officially announced the launch of Yash Johar Foundation, created in memory of his father. Recalling Yash Johar’s magnanimity towards industry workers besides his signature filmmaking such as new camera angles, narratives, transition effects, lighting, and shot framing, KJo shared a heartwarming video featuring best moments of Yash from sets, colleagues, meetings and family pics.
The video also shows a few pictures of Yash with Kjo from their memorable events. The aim behind the set-up of the foundation is to help people from the Indian film industry who are in need. Karan also elaborated the motive behind the launch of the foundation in a voice-over. The YashJohar Foundation will assist in finances and healthcare to people from the entertainment industry. “This has been a true labour of love created in memory of my incredible father and to carry forward his legacy. I am proud to launch the Yash Johar Foundation, which has been set up with the aim to improve the quality of life for people in the Indian entertainment industry (sic),” Karan wrote along with the video.
He added, “While we have initiated the implementation of long-term sustainable plans that will enhance the lives of people and their families in the industry, we have also ensured that immediate solutions are being provided to help them deal with the effects of the ongoing global pandemic (sic).” Karan in the voice over said that his father Yash Johar was fond of movies to the core. Even on film sets, his heart lay in the people who made up the industry, Karan said. “From the spot boys to the cameramen, from the editors to the actors, they made up his world. He was naturally a kind and empathetic person, who understood that being in the movie business is hard. This is why it gives me great pleasure to announce the formation of the Yash Johar Foundation for the people of the entertainment industry.”
He further said, “The Yash Johar Foundation has three main pillars that it will support: financial well-being, health and education and vocational training. Considering the current scenario, we are taking into considering the effects and after-effects of Covid-19. We have initiated YJF Covid Response 2021 to address immediate needs such as food, shelter and medicines of those within the entertainment industry who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. My father was a man who always looked for solutions and always taught me to look for them too. This is a step in that direction.”
Late Yash Johar is still one of the irreplaceable silver screen treasures. His son Karan Johar emerged as a well-renowned filmmaker defining modern cinemas. He also worked as an assistant to his father, Yash Johar and much later, started producing films under his Dharma Productions banner. Over the years he has successfully managed to entertain all of us through his several classic hits. Karan is eminently known for his selection of words, his screen presence and his sense of humour. Because of these qualities his talk shows, award functions are also an instant hit.
