Sikhs Demands A Ban On ‘Grahan’ Web Series

Grahan is the upcoming Hindi web series on Disney + Hotstar platform. The web series is scheduled for a grand release on 24th June but the series has now fallen into a deep controversy. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded an immediate ban on the web series, based on the incidents of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Bibi Jagir Kaur held a press conference and revealed the objections against the web series. Jagir Kaur claims that a Sikh character has been portrayed in an objectionable manner in the series. “The charge of the genocide is being leveled against a Sikh character which is not just fabricated but also highly condemnable,” said Kaur who sent a legal notice to the makers of the show along with the head and president of Disney+Hotstar.

Kaur also revealed that the makers of the show are sprinkling salt on the wounds of Sikhs to hurt their sentiments. She also said that the project will affect communal harmony in society and demanded a ban on it.

The show makers are yet to comment on these developments but Grahan is getting a lot of support from the netizens on social media.
