Versatile actor Prakash Raj is currently in the race for President’s post in the Movie Artists Association (MAA). Prakash Raj’s participation in the MAA elections is a surprise to everyone. The actor is on a mission to revamp the association and bring ‘self-respect’ to all the members a part of the association. However, the actor is facing criticism from some of the members. Prakash Raj is being branded as ‘non-local’ as his mother tongue is Kannada.
Prakash Raj interacted with a leading Telugu news daily today and had given a solid explanation of the ‘non-local’ comments. Prakash Raj gives an example of Vishal who tasted a victory in Tamilnadu’s Nadigar Sangam elections. “When a Telugu-speaking guy Vishal can win in the Tamilnadu, why can’t I contest here?” asks Prakash Raj.
“When I adopted a village in the Telangana state, no one questioned me if I am a non-local. I bought houses for my assistants in Hyderabad. My son attends his school in Hyderabad. The address on my Aadhar card reveals that I am local. I got National Award for the film Antahpuram. I received nine Nandi Awards for acting in Telugu films. When there is no question of non-local in these situations, why is it popping out now? It shows the narrow-mindedness and poor mental status of those who say that I am non-local“, says Prakash Raj.
Everyone wants to know why Prakash Raj suddenly jumped into this poll race and what is he aiming to do if he wins the election. The sensational actor has interesting answers for the same.
Prakash Raj tells that the decision to contest in the election did not happen overnight. “I took a year to convince myself that I should do this. I am in this industry for over 3 decades. The industry has given me the name, fame, and everything. I am not happy with the things happening here. It is easy to point out things but the execution is important,” says Prakash, adding, “During the shoots, my co-artists used to tell me that I can be the right person to become the President. There is no single incident that triggered me to take this decision. I have been thinking about it a lot. After witnessing the happenings in the last year, I made my mind to come in and form the solutions for existing issues. I formed a beautiful team for the same.”
“MAA association lacks sustainability,” says Prakash Raj, who wants to achieve the same after winning the election. Prakash Raj wants to bring self-respect to the organization and all its existing members.
The election was supposed to take place in March this year but it was postponed due to the pandemic. The election will take place in September.
