Deva Katta made his debut in films with the 2005 romantic comedy Vennela. But it was his second film Prasthanam which brought him wide recognition. After that, Deva Katta came up with films like Autonagar Surya and Dynamite but they ended up as failures. He remade Prasthanam in Hindi with the same title but even it had ended up as a flop. Meanwhile, the director now made a statement that he will never remake another film in his career.
Apart from Prasthanam, Deva Katta’s Dynamite is also a remake. Its original version was the 2014 Tamil film Arima Nambi. Recently, a social media handle analyzed Katta’s ambitious project Autonagar Surya. Tagging that video, the director tweeted, “Thank you sooooo much for analyzing, understanding, and absorbing every theme/nuance that was thought through while scripting Surya…!!”
“Will never do another remake, but will leap onto an opportunity to re-make Surya the way I envisioned in another language!” he further added. Deva Katta opined that the output of Autonagar Surya was not as he expected it to be. Thus, he stated that he may do it again in another language in the way he envisioned it. Maybe, this will be his last remake film, ‘technically.’
Deva Katta is currently working on his next project Republic which features Sai Dharam Tej and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead roles. It will hit the screens as soon as the theatres reopen across Telugu states.
