Every era of Telugu Cinema gave us some legendary music composers. The era of the 90s gave us a gem in the form of Mani Sharma, who still continues to rule our hearts. Fondly called by his fans as Melody Brahma, Mani Sharma gave us in-numerous chartbusters in a career spanning almost three decades. Today, this iconic music composer celebrates his 57th birthday.
After assisting the likes of Chellapilla Satyam, Ilaiyaraaja, MM Keeravani, and Raj-Koti, Mani Sharma made his feature film debut with the 1992 horror-thriller Raatri, which was helmed by Ram Gopal Varma. However, he had to wait for five more years to get a breakthrough. It was the 1997 film Preminchukundam Raa that made Mani Sharma an overnight star. Since then, he didn’t look back and went on to deliver back-to-back blockbuster music albums.
During the late 90s and early 2000s, Mani Sharma worked with almost all the top heroes of Telugu Cinema. He is especially known for his collaboration with Megastar Chiranjeevi. Bavagaru Bagunnara, Choodalani Undi, Iddaru Mitrulu, Mrugaraju, Indra, Tagore, Jai Chiranjeeva, and Stalin are some of their films that feature iconic soundtracks. He also delivered super hit albums with various other actors like Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, and Jr. NTR.
Mani Sharma is known for his melodies. His slow tracks are soothing and touch your heart instantly. The way he makes fusions with classical and western instruments is a factor he completely aces in. The other factor that makes him a legend is his background score. There are people who watch films only to hear Mani’s background scores. Such is the fanbase of his background compositions.
After a rough patch of few years, Mani Sharma made a solid comeback with the 2019 super hit film iSmart Shankar. Right now, the star composer has more than half a dozen films in hand, which includes, Acharya, Narappa, Republic, Liger, Shaakuntalam, Bhala Thandanana, and Sridevi Soda Center.
Many composers like Devi Sri Prasad, SS Thaman, and Harris Jayaraj were trained under Mani Sharma. Apart from Telugu, Mani composed music for Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada movies as well. He won three Filmfare and Two Nandi Awards in his career. We wish him a very happy birthday and hope he comes up with many more blockbuster albums in the coming days.
