Boyfriend For Hire Movie Review

Published by

Boyfriend For Hire is a film that created a good buzz thanks to the interesting trailers and promotions. Directed by Niranjan Kambhampati. The film stars Viswant and Malavika Satheesan as the main leads and is produced by K Niranjan Reddy. It was released today and is produced by K Niranjan Reddy and Madhav Peddi.

Plot

Arjun(Viswant) is a simple guy who has issues with girls right from his childhood and keeps away from them. One fine day, his parents decide to get him married. As he is not used to talking to girls, he makes a weird plan and becomes a Boyfriend for Hire for young women to know what girls are exactly like. What is the concept of Boyfriend for Hire? Why is Arjun doing all this? Did Arjun find true love? All this will be answered only if you watch the film on the big screen.

Performances

Viswant has been in the industry for sometime now and gets the best role of his career. He was good in his difficult role and performed confidently. Malavika, the heroine was also impressive in her character and her chemistry with Viswant is very good to see on screen. The romantic moments shared between them are handled so nicely by the director. Sudarshan plays the comic part and he also evokes a few laughs here and there.

Technicalities

Gopi Sundar has composed the music and two songs are good. However, his BGM is not that great. As the story is contemporary, the visuals are also quite colourful and give a good feeling while watching. The makers have not compromised one bit when it comes to production values and showcased the film in a lively manner. Some dialogues are meaningful and the editing is a bit weak especially in the second half. The story point is quite interesting and has not been touched before in Telugu. The editing part should have been better in the latter part.

Thumbs Up:

Basic concept
Production values

Thumbs Down:

Second Half
Lack of proper justification
Lack of proper drama

Analysis

The trailer of Boyfriend For Hire was cut in a way that the youth would get curious about the romantic scenes seeing the promos. But that is not the case while watching the film. The so-called romance is not there but the concept of Boyfriend For Hire looks a bit novel on paper. The manner in which the key concept is unleashed is also nice and appreciable.

But the major issue is that there is not much clarity when it comes to the main protagonist. His character arc is not good. More clarity in his emotions should have been given to the hero. The film is directed by Santosh and his idea is novel but the way he has narrated the film is not that great. What’s written on paper is not brought out properly on the screen.

The buzz created in the first half is clearly missing in the second. Also, there was more scope for drama but that does not happen. A noted actor like Harshvardhan is not utilized properly. The story is written with a modern touch but the presentation is not. The second half is where things slow down and repeated scenes take center stage.

Also, the climax is far-fetched and drags for a long time. There are no exciting moments or twists that will keep the audience engaged to the screen. Such issues make the proceedings quite boring for the audience. The film could have been a gripping urban romcom but is marred by some middling narration which fails to connect with the audience.

Final Word

Boyfriend For Hire has a modern approach and interesting characters but it is brought down by a dull narrative. A few romantic moments and comedy scenes are good but the rest of the aspects fall apart and bore the audience.

Bottom Line – Good Subject Gone Wrong

Rating: 2/5
