Extra Ordinary Man Movie Review

Published by

Nithiin has not touched a full on fun enterainer after Bheeshma. He joined forces with popular writer Vakkantham Vamsi for Extra Ordinary Man. The trailer appear to be promising with entertaining elements. The trailer raised the interest among the audience and the sensational Sreeleela factor also is a part of it. The movie was released today in theaters. Let us see of it is really ‘Extra Ordinary’ Man. Here is the review from the US Premieres.

What Is It About?

Abhinay (Nithiin) is a junior artist in films and he dreams of becoming a hero. Abhinay bumps into Likhita (Sreeleela) as rich entreprenuer and they both fall in love. Abinay gives up his dream of acting for a well paid job in Likhita’s company and when life goes on happily, the gets an acting offer for a hero role. Abhinay takes it up but eventually loses it too. Will Abhinay pursue his dream of acting? What he does and how his life takes turns after losing that offer is all about Extra Ordinary Man.

Performances

Nithiin puts up his full effort for the role he did as a junior artist. Despite all the poor jokes and farcical comedy, Nithiin’s character is the one that brings laughs here and there.

Sreeleela did not fit the role she did. Her character irritates. Sreeleela will be missing for more than half of the time and comes back only for the songs.

Rao Ramesh and Rohini combination scenes and comedy worked in parts. The duo also helped the movie with their comedy in the later second half. Ajay, Harshavardhan and others did their job. Sampath is fine. Rajasekhar disappoints with the first ever special role in a film. Rajasekhar’s admirers won’t be liking this half-baked role. Brahmaji, Hyper Aadi and Jabardasth actors comedy worked only in a few scenes. Sudev Nair as villain is strictly alright.

Technicalities

Extra Ordinary Man has a stale and mediocre concept. Despite the poor script, the over the top comedy comedy worked to some extent. The background music is very ordinary and the songs are terrible. Not one song could be remembered by the time of rolling titles. One has to wonder if the music is provided by the same Harris Jayaraj we all know.

Analysis

There is an entertaining commercial template created by a few successful movies where the hero does what he wants to make himself happy and that ultimately becomes a great gesture for many. That template is stale now with a ton of movies tried and ended up as disasters. The writer who started that trend of stories with the movie Kick and Race Gurram is the director of Extra Ordinary Man and he seems to be stuck in the same pattern.

Extra Ordinary Man does not cross the line from the formula of so-called entertainer, not at least by mistake. The initial scenes of the movie hint at the monotonous storytelling, but the impact of the trailer says otherwise for a while.

The director does not take much time to push the narrative into the routine track with over-the-top scenes filled all over. The romantic track is unbearable but it is the comedy of Nithiin and Rao Ramesh that saves the first half. Apart from that, there are many extra silly scenes. This might be the millionth time a rich brainless entrepreneur heroine falls for a wastrel and makes him the CEO of a company, just like that.

The latter half turns more predictable with a good number of scenes reminding us of Race Gurram movie. The comedy and the dialogue around are mostly from spoofs trending on social media. The story takes a known route with predictable screenplay and not so convincing characters. The director appears to have decided to do a light and funny movie but a little extra of it made it a slapstick comedy movie.

When Sreeleela irritates for a while, the villain takes the baton in the latter half. Rajasekhar’s entry does not help anything but instead pushing the story into more chaos. There is a reference of how the film is shot and the scenes are added in chronilogical order. Extra Ordinary Man is exactly that but only has a series of over the top comedy scenes written and no proper story. Also the precliamx and climax come with pure conventional template that has been made and seen many a time earlier.

Overall, there is nothing extraordinary about Extra Ordinary Man, except Nithiin’s effort and a few comedy blocks that worked. Extra Ordinary Man is an outdated movie that might work well with B and C centers for the spoof comedy it has and it is a crap for those who don’t like that.

Bottom Line: Extra Spoofs – Ordinary Story

Rating: 2.25/5
