Copyright Controversy Surrounds ‘Baby’

Published by

Director Sai Rajesh, who shot to fame with Hrudaya Kaleyam and Kobbari Matta, garnered widespread attention with his third directorial Baby. The film featured Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in the lead roles. The film is now getting remade in Hindi which will mark Sai Rajesh’s debut in Bollywood. In a shocking development, there has been a ‘copyright’ complaint on the film now.

The case was filed at Raidurg Police Station by a short filmmaker and cinematographer named Shirin Sriram. Shirin Sriram claims that he wrote a script titled “Kanna Please” in 2015, which he narrated to Sai Rajesh and later renamed it as “Preminchoddu.”

Sai Rajesh suggested Sriram narrate the story to producer Srinivasa Kumar Naidu (SKN). Now, Sriram alleges that Sai Rajesh and SKN made a film titled Baby with his script.

The police officials have registered the complaining and an investigation is currently underway.
