The government of Telangana is delivering on its hallmark pre-poll promise of farmer loan waiver program. The first phase of Runa mafi(loan waiver) program started today with the Revanth Reddy government disbursing Rs 6000+ crore which would directly benefit nearly 11 lakh farming families in the state.
Notably, BRS firebrand Harish Rao had earlier challenged to resign his MLA post if CM Revanth Reddy completes Runa Mafi by the 15th of August. And now that the government is actually delivering its promise, Harish Rao, in a media meet today, was asked if he would go on to stand by his word and resign the MLA post.
Reacting to this, Harish Rao made a counter argument. “The challenge I threw was very categorical. I made it clear that I would resign if Revanth Reddy completes his 13 pre-poll promises within 100 days of coming to power. My challenge was that he must complete all other promises along with Runa Mafi by August 15. Doing only Rua Mafi and ignoring other promises isn’t how this works”.
But Revanth appears to be least bothered about these promises as he is efficiently wrapping up the background works. Once the firs phase of Runa Mafi is done, the Congress government would release another Rs 34,000 crore towards the main phase which is to be completed by the end of August.
