Former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s super luxurious Rushikonda Palace has turned into a white elephant for the AP government. The swanky construction has no real purpose, and it is thus incurring humongous financial pressure on the NDA government. Had Jagan become the CM for second time, he would’ve moved into this plump mega construction but that wasn’t to be.
Now that the building is sitting idle, with a whopping nearly 30 lakhs lakhs being spent monthly just on its maintenance, the AP government had to act quickly and so did they.
As per the latest developments, it is being established that this building could be used for film shootings henceforth. This comes in view of Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s recent visit, which was followed by the deputation of the building to cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh.
Apparently, the cinematography minister has already had a few telephonic conversations about utilizing this building for film shoots. This is the only sane way to cover the Rs 6 lakh monthly maintenance costs and also partly recover the mega budget of Rs 500 crore that was spent on it.
Factually speaking, the government received proposals to convert the building in a luxury resort in association with Tata Group but this didn’t materialize for logistical reasons. As a last-gasp resort, this swanky construction could soon be opening doors for film shoots.
