Heeramandi Teaser: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT Debut

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is coming up with an interesting web series for Netflix. Titled “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” the makers unveiled its first look. The project marks Bhansali’s debut on OTT, and the series features a stellar cast, including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal.

The series depicts a story amid a power struggle in Heeramandi. “A young heir caught in the crossfire chooses love over succession, disrupting the status quo. Set in pre-independent India against a burgeoning freedom movement, the final thread holding the art of tawaif (courtesans) is put to the test” is the official synopsis of the series.

Touted as an epic saga exploring themes of love, power, revenge, and freedom, “Heeramandi” has been Bhansali’s passion project for 14 years. Finally, it is coming to light this year. The first look hints at a grandeur production, as expected from SLB.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prerna Singh produce the series. The release date of the series is yet to be announced.
