11 Indians Found Dead In Georgia’s Mountain Resort

Published by

Eleven Indian citizens were found dead at a restaurant in Gudauri, a mountain resort in the country of Georgia.

The bodies of 11 Indian nationals and one Georgian citizen were discovered on the second floor of an Indian restaurant in Gudauri. The Gudauri Ski resort is high up in the Caucasus Mountains near Georgia’s border with Russia.

Police say that twelve people have died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning at the ski resort. Preliminary tests do not indicate any trace of violence on the bodies and it appeared to be an accident according to the police. The deceased were all employees of the same Indian restaurant. They were found in bedrooms located on the establishment’s second floor.

An oil-powered generator had been turned on after the building lost electricity on Friday and the possible leakage of Carbon Monoxide caused the deaths. Police have launched an investigation into the incident under Article 116 of the country’s criminal code, suggesting negligent manslaughter.
