Published by

In another incident, a small private plane with 10 people went missing over Alaska’s Norton Sound Shoreline. The aircraft lost contact with Air traffic control within an hour after takeoff.

According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the aircraft owned by Bering Air Caravan was en route from Unalakleet to Nome on Thursday afternoon with nine passengers and a pilot onboard.

Rescue operations are underway with the Nome Volunteer Fire Department beginning an active search for the flight from midnight on Thursday. The team is currently doing an active ground search from Nome and White Mountain.

Due to weather and safety concerns, they urged the public not to get into individual searches.
