Indian-Origin CEO Arrested In High-End Prostitution Scandal In US

Anurag Bajpayee, an Indian-origin co-founder and CEO of a Boston-based clean water startup named Gradiant, was detained in the United States on charges of his involvement with high-end brothels. Anurag has been named among several individuals in Boston-area court documents accused of paying high rates for hourly sex services earlier this year.

According to American media reports, Anurag was part of an elite group of clients along with lawyers, doctors, and public and government officials. Each member of this high-profile group spent a whopping $600 per hour for sexual encounters with Asian women, most of whom were victims of sex trafficking.

However, despite high pressure from several employees demanding Anurag’s resignation, Gradiant is accused of shielding the tainted CEO. Gradiant is a global leader in the cleantech industry with an estimated net worth of over $1 billion with operations across 25 countries and more than 2,500 facilities. The startup tackles critical water challenges for the semiconductors, pharmaceutical, mining, and food and beverage industries.

Anurag Bajpayee completed his primary education at La Martiniere College in Lucknow and went on to pursue a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006. He later earned an MSc degree at MIT in 2008, followed by a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2012. His doctoral thesis on industrial desalination and water treatment using a membrane-free desalination technique was hailed by Scientific American as one of the top 10 world-changing ideas.
