Published by

In yet another feather in Telangana’s hat, the iconic and historic Kakatiya Rudreshwara temple, prominently known as Ramappa Temple, has got UNESCO’s world heritage tag.

The 800-year-old temple was constructed in the 13th century. An inscription in the temple dates it to the year 1213 CE and says it was built by a Kakatiya General Recherla Rudra Reddy, during the period of the Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva.

In a tweet post, UNESCO corroborated the news and announced that the Ramappa temple would now be inscribed as World’s Heritage site.

Sharing his joy and happiness, minister KTR wrote “Happy to share the good news that the 800 year old Kakatiya Rudreshwara #RamappaTemple in #Telangana has been inscribed as a UNESCO #WorldHeritage Site. My compliments to everyone who was involved in the effort .”

Guess who has congratulated the people of Telangana. It’s none other than PM Narendra Modi. “Excellent! Congratulations to everyone, specially the people of Telangana. The iconic Ramappa Temple showcases the outstanding craftsmanship of the great Kakatiya dynasty. I would urge you all to visit this majestic Temple complex and get a first-hand experience of it’s grandness,” wrote PM Narendra Modi.
