It’s been almost seven years now that Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has ventured into politics yet he could not succeed in the poll front. The recent result of Eluru municipal election has induced a big doubt whether Pawan led Jana Sena would win any elections in the near future.
The Godavari districts in AP have a strong base of Kapu community. In the 2019 elections, Jana Sena Party did not capitalise on this and Jagan’s YSRCP made most of it and almost swept both the districts leaving Jana Sena in disarray. Out of the 34 Assembly segments from both the districts, Jana Sena has won just one seat.
But then Jana Sena supporters focused on future and tried to show some confidence that they would strengthen from root level and make the Godavari districts as their fort. But their words did not meet action. In the municipal elections held in March, Jana Sena entered the poll battle with BJP.
Eluru municipality which is a prominent municipal poll has been swept by YSRCP. Out of the 50 divisions, YSRCP has won 47 while TDP bagged 3. Jana Sena and BJP contested in 36 divisions but could not win a single division which is really shocking.
Kapu community has significant presence in Eluru and so Pawan Kalyan laid a special focus on it. He directed party cadre to work accordingly to win the elections but then people weren’t interested and voted for the ruling party. Pawan’s poll capacity has yet again flopped and these continuous failures have let down the cadre.
What is this result proving? Like all rest of the AP rejected Jana Sena, Eluru municipality too rejected Jana Sena. This is also another sign that people are in least bothered or vote for Jana Sena. But why is it so? Pawan and Jana Sena should do a serious introspection.
The other factor that worked against Jana Sena is, it’s alliance with BJP. Having denied special status, BJP is taking many anti-AP decisions and moreover the party has minimal cadre and presence on the grass-root level across the state. AP BJP leaders mostly flash on the news channels and take part in debates on issues pertaining to the state. Majority of the times, they support BJP government in Delhi and blame the state government.
The municipal election result has put the alliance of BJP and Jana Sena at stake. Already both the parties are not happy with their bonding and this result has further damaged their rapport. The future of BJP and Jana Sena coalition looks really uncertain.
