Finally, after a lot of dilly-dallying for the last 2 years, Janasena’s lone warrior in the AP Assembly, Rapaka Vara Prasad Rao, has donned the YSRCP kanduva at a recent public meeting in Mamidikuduru mandal. Not stopping there, Rapaka also handed over YSRCP kanduvas to new joinees at the meeting, leaving everyone surprised.
Ever since he won the 2019 Assembly election on a Janasena ticket, Rapaka has been singing YS Jagan’s praises all the time. His party-defying acts had miffed Janasena cadres and the party’s top leaders like Pawan Kalyan and Nadendla Manohar. In fact, Janasena cadres openly put up banners in Malikipuram, requesting Rapaka to not attend the party meeting in March earlier this year.
In the same meeting, Nadendla turned soft on Rapaka and requested the Razole MLA to stop his pro-Jagan statements and instead work towards strengthening Janasena in the district. However, Rapaka seems to have understood that there is no future for him in Janasena, and his latest stunt of donning the YSRCP kanduva seems to be out of this realisation.
Incidentally, Rapaka got his son join YSRCP around one and a half years ago. He still has not resigned to Janasena membership. While his actions have been causing severe embarrassment to Janasena cadre and think-tank, there’s also a growing opposition within the YSRCP against Rapaka.
