The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served notices to granite companies that are operating from the joint Karimnagar district. A majority of the granite companies belong to TRS minister Gangula Kamalakar and his family members.
Going into details, about two years back Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay complained against TRS minister’s granite business to the ED. The T-BJP chief alleged that Gangula is running a mining mafia in Karimnagar. However, the ED did not take any action then and freshly BJP leader Mahinder Reddy and Telangana High Court advocate Gangadhar have lodged yet another complaint against the mining mafia.
Having taken this complaint into consideration, the ED swung into action and visited a couple of ports that are exporting the granite. Rectifying the violations and evasion of export fee, the ED reportedly served notices to nine companies that are operating from Karimnagar district.
A sum of Rs 125 crore was purportedly unpaid by the nine companies and so the ED has asked the companies to pay five times of the amount as penalty. This means the total tunes up to Rs 625 crore.
Minister Gangula is yet to react on the ED notices but the TRS party claims that BJP is using ED ahead of the Huzurabad by-election.
