BJP MLA Raja Singh has yet again sparked controversy with his comments. In a special video Raja Singh congratulated the Indian men’s hockey team for winning the Bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics. Simultaneously the Ghoshamahal MLA criticised the TRS government for neglecting sports in the state.
“Ever since the TRS party came to power in 2014, the encouragement for sports has been absolutely zero. Telangana sports minister is only bothered about toddy shops and wines and the commission that comes from them. Today the fate of sports in the state is in dire state. The coaches/trainers of various sports are protesting on the roads for salaries and better facilities,” said Raja Singh.
The BJP leader further added, “From Chandrababu Naidu to the last Congress government, they did give at least some importance to sports. But this government has done nothing. Instead of making Pakistan’s daughter-in-law as Telangana brand ambassador, the Telangana government should consider PV Sindhu who is the first Indian to win two Olympic medals for the country.”
Raja Singh said legendary sports persons like Sachin and Dhoni are born from gullies and if the government focuses on sports, then we might see future legends in any sports.
Well Raja Singh’s intention of asking the government to make Sindhu as brand ambassador is worthwhile but pointing out Sania Mirza as Pakistan’s daughter-in-law is objectionable. Earlier BJP’s Laxman made similar comments and invited flak from all corners of the country.
