Taliban 2.0 : Dangerous But Better Than 1.0

The whole world is yet to recover from the ghastly shock given by the Taliban to Afghans, and humanity in particular, as they have overpowered all the local governments to establish their Islamic state again. However, analysts do opine that the Taliban 2.0 regime that has come back to power after nearly 20 years, is quite different from the previous though they are demonic without any doubt.

When it comes to crushing human rights and women rights and equality there is none like the Taliban who impose rigorous restrictions on women in the name of religious guidelines. Back then, they never allowed women to come out of the houses, and even if they have to come out, a parda is a must along with a male companion. But it looks like, even the Taliban mindset has changed if their recent press release is anything to go by.

After holding their first-ever talk with the media, the Taliban declared that they would allow women in media and other places to continue their work. Though they have dismissed democracy and confirmed implementing Islamic Sharia Law all over the country, the exception given to working women is something the world is not even close to expecting.

At the same time, the Taliban confirmed that every media report should adhere to their Islamic policy and should be positive towards the national interest. That’s a big choker though, as what could be that national interest they are talking about.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid hasn’t spoken a thing about the new government and who will be heading the regime or calling the shots but confirmed that strict Islamic law will be implemented. Though his rhetoric is quite better than the previous 1.0 regime, definitely human rights go for a toss in the war-torn country unless world powers intervene.
