Over the years, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has been a reliable Chief Advisor to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Now, with Jagan off to Shimla along with his family to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary, Sajjala is rumoured to have become the undeclared Chief Minister to drive the state for a week.
Jagan is scheduled to return to his office on the 31st of August. In this scenario, intense debates on Sajjala acting as the interim AP CM are now viral among YSRCP leaders even though they are unable to openly disclose Sajjala playing the big role in Jagan’s absence.
Previous CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu too had gone out on family tours during his reign. But Chandrababu never had an acting CM in his place and always discussed the state affairs with the Chief Secretary via phone and video-conferencing. So, there was never a debate on the acting CM in CBN’s absence.
But Jagan, on the other hand, prefers to take a complete break from work during his personal tours. During his Jerusalem tour a few years ago, Jagan handed over the party affairs to YV Subba Reddy and Raja Mohan Reddy. YSRCP leaders opine that Jagan might prefer to leave all the tensions behind and enjoy his short holiday. So, he might have handed over the administration responsibilities to his trusted lieutenant.
It will be interesting to see how Sajjala will be handling the governance until Jagan’s return. As of now, Sajjala has not issued any official orders to the authorities, as the Chief Secretary is looking after those matters. But the latest grapevine in the YSRCP is that Sajjala will surely make a grand entry into administrative affairs when the need arises.
