The Telangana government is all set to reopen its schools from tomorrow and there is a huge anticipation among parents. However, the Telangana government received a major setback as the Telangana High Court issued a stay on reopening of schools.
Last week a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed against reopening of schools in Telangana and this petition came for hearing on Tuesday morning. However this stay on reopening of schools is only for residential schools while private schools are free to decide about reopening.
The Telangana High Court also advised parents that they cannot force students to send to schools and also schools can’t pressure parents. The classes can be online and offline or both and these schools can decide.
While issuing the stay, the Telangana High Court has wrapped up the state government. The government order regarding reopening schools from 1 September is cryptic. Is there a vaccine for children? Will they not carry infection to parents or grandparents?,” questioned the High Court.
Postponing the case to October 4th, the High Court has asked the Telangana government to file counter petition and explain in detail what measures it has taken to protect the interest of the children in social welfare/residential hostels.
