It is known that the High Court of Andhra Pradesh cancelled the parishad elections which were held on the 8th of April, saying the code of conduct wasn’t followed in a full-fledged manner during the election period. The High Court passed this judgement on the 21st of May.
Incidentally, the state government filed an appeal in regard to the cancellation of elections. Following which, the High Court commenced hearings on the appeal petition on the 5th of August.
After the hearings, the High Court reserved the judgement. And finally today, 16th September, the High Court passed the final orders, permitting the counting of Andhra Pradesh MPTC and ZPTC elections votes.
The High Court bench comprising of Justice AK Goswami, and Justice J Umadevi passed the judgement a short while ago.
The State Election Commission is expected to commence the counting process soon. More details about the same will be out in the next few days.
The High Court’s judgement could come as a rude shock to the opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh which have been alleging that the parishad elections weren’t carried out in the righteous manner.
