Narsapuram MP and industrialist Raghurama Krishnam Raju is the only strong voice in the ruling party that has been actively raising issues against the government. When it comes to mistakes in administration decisions or the issues related to the public, Raghurama Krishnam Raju is not mincing his words.
The ruling party MP’s statements have evoked a lot of mixed reactions in the party. In fact, he was even asked to clarify by his party leaders about his question in Lok Sabha over protecting Telugu language and the spirit of mother-tongue as the party chief and CM Jagan has made English as the medium of instruction as mandatory in government schools.
The industrialist-turned-politician from West Godavari has been in the issues in the party. Even his latest comments about Atchannaidu’s arrest has stunned many. Despite being in YCP, Raghurama Krishnam Raju had opined that the manner in which Atchannaidu was arrested and taken into police custody was “objectionable and avoidable”.
Raghurama Krishnam Raju had also stated the former Labour Minister was suffering from health-related issues and this was not the time he should be arrested in such a manner. He had also opined that it was incorrect to stop Opposition leader Chandrababu from meeting Atchannaidu in the hospital after arrest. This is not all. In fact, Raghurama Krishnam Raju was the only leader who had found fault with the TTD board’s decision to sell or auction the immovable assets of Tirupati Lord Balaji’s temple. Due to growing pressure from the public, the government had ordered the TTD board to recall its decision.
In a party which has a one-man show, it’s not easy for a leader to stand up and raise voice against the one-man. Though there are senior leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasad Rao, Vijay Sai Reddy, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Anam Narayan Reddy, Mekapati, Peddireddi, Parthasarathy and several others in the party, none of them have raised their voices against the government openly. Anam has started raising his voice once in a while, but that too only about local administration and district leaders of the party.
However, the only man who is consistently raising the voice against the mistakes in party and administration is none other than Raghurama Krishnam Raju. He had also stated that none of the MPs from YCP manage to get CM Jagan’s appointment except two to three close MPs. Raghurama Krishnam Raju had openly commented that he couldn’t get CM Jagan’s appointment despite trying many times. These remarks of Raghurama Krishnam Raju openly are
No doubt, there is no dearth of senior leaders in YCP. But none has the decision-making power. The baton is in Jagan’s hands and his close confidantes like Vijay Sai Reddy who ensures boss Jagan’s decisions are implemented. Becoming the only strong voice in such a party, one really needs a lot of guts. That’s Naraspuram MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju for you.
Though there were rumours that he would shift his loyalties to BJP, Raghurama Krishnam Raju has condemned such rumours and maintained that he would sail with YCP. In fact, he said he likes YS Jagan as YSR’s son. So, YCP may witness more such contradictory and strong statements from YCP MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju in the coming days.
