As PM Modi is celebrating his 71st birthday today, the government amplifies its pace in the nation’s vaccination record. The nation clocked over 42,000 vaccinations a minute, a senior health official said.
By this afternoon, vaccinations crossed one crore and it is the fourth time in less than 30 days. And by evening it has reached 2 crores. It is indeed a big milestone on Modi’s birthday. “On PM @Narendra Modi Ji”s birthday, till 1:30 pm, the country has crossed the mark of 1 crore vaccines, the fastest so far, and we are continuously moving forward. I believe that today we will all make a new record of vaccination and give it as a gift to the prime minister,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted.
Further 2.5 crore vaccinations are predicted by evening. The government added a ticker to track Covid shots across the country. “Celebrating the relentless efforts of India’s vaccinators against COVID-19, we have added a ticker to show vaccinations happening in near real-time. We are currently clocking over 42,000 vaccinations/minute or 700/second,” tweeted National Health Authority chief RS Sharma.
The government aimed to give 100 per cent first doses of the vaccine in poll-bound states and this vaccination campaign is nothing but the BJP’s three-week celebrations on Modi’s birthday. PM Modi’s home state Gujarat has alone crossed five lakh doses, more than the daily doses in the last seven days
