Former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao demanded that the Bigg Boss behind smuggling of heroin worth thousands of crores of rupees in the state should be nabbed by the central investigation agencies.
There were reports that Aashi Trading Company, based near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, received 25 tonnes of heroin worth Rs 72,000 crore. The firm allegedly cooked up a record that the semi-cut talcum powder blocks, which are similar to the material seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, were transported to a trader in New Delhi.
The TDP leader lamented that there was no law and order in the state. Officials themselves are shifting drugs and bundles of currency in their cars without any hesitation or fear, he lamented.
There were several other news reports emerging from various places about seizing of heroin in large amounts in the recent past. A couple of days ago, over 3 tonne heroin was seized at Mundra Port in Gujarat. In July, Delhi police seized heroin worth Rs 2,500 crore.
In the same month, 300 kg of heroin worth Rs 879 crore was seized in Maharashtra. In May, Delhi police seized 50 kg heroin. In August, heroin worth Rs 100 crore was seized in Punjab. Drugs have to be seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
Having a long coastline, Andhra Pradesh has many ports. They used to be under the control of Telugu people till the recent past but now, they are being handed over to people of other states, he criticised, indirectly hinting at giving rights over the Gangavaram port to the Adani group.
He fumed at the YCP government for smuggling even human hair to other places. The essentials which ought to be distributed to the poor as ration are being diverted to other states through the Kakinda port, he alleged and demanded that Chief Minister and ministers should answer why it is not being checked.
