Hyd Techie Death: KTR Admits Negligence

On the night of September 25th, a Hyderabad techie Rajinikanth fell into an open drain that was under construction. Following an extensive search operation, his body was later found on 27th September in Neknampur lake. Rajinikanth’s death came to the discussion during the ongoing Telangana Assembly sessions.

KTR expressed his grief over the incident and took complete responsibility for his death. KTR also accepted negligence on his department’s part.

Speaking in the Telangana Legislative Council, KTR accepted the negligence on his municipal administration department’s part. “It was an unfortunate incident,” said KTR adding, “The Manikonda municipality, adjacent to the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), is growing rapidly. A lot of works are underway. Perhaps he (Rajinikanth) didn’t notice the open drain.” said the minister.

KTR admitted that the barricade was not erected properly and told that he is taking complete responsibility for the unfortunate incident. “The Assistant Executive Engineer and Deputy Executive Engineer have been suspended, and a departmental inquiry has been ordered,” said KTR, adding, “Despite doing the safety audits from time to time, the negligence of the contractors or the ground level staff might have caused this.”

KTR assured that such incidents will not be repeated again in the future. He also assured that the government will ensure the compensation is raised to Rs 10 lakh.
